Talking to an All Powerful God [Acts 4 v23-31]

The disciples were held as prisoners and were threatened not to preach the name of Jesus. But they couldn't stay quiet about the Son of God. They continued to speak about Jesus despite the serious threats upon them and as soon as they were released, they prayed together.

Prayer is an awesome thing. We can speak to God freely, telling Him our concerns, worries and praise Him for his great power and goodness.

We can either believe that God is in control and live by that fact, or we must believe that there is no purpose in life but to live like robots, meaninglesly working our way through life for nothing in the end.

The disciples call Him Sovereign Lord. Sovereign means ALL Powerful and is in complete control. But we can still pray to Him and ask Him things. He is the creator who made everything and therefore knows everything. We are not freak accidents but we are here for a purpose that God has planned for.

The disciples proclaim that God has spoken, by His Hy Spirit, through men in history. All the things that have been spoken of by Godly inspired men have happened. Therefore we know that what the Bible says about the future will also happen. These are things that demand our attention.

They then say that the death of Jesus was all in Gods plan... God had already decided it should happen, long before. Despite Gods plans, we are still accountable for our actions. God knows our actions before we do them and can use them for His purposes... even the terrible things that people do can be used for good by God. We are accountable before God for all the things that we do.

Did God answer their prayer?

Yes. God gave them His Holy Spirit and gave them power to speak boldly for Him. God changes lives and situations by His Holy Spirit. Ordinary people doing extraordinary things through the Power of God.

God wants us to speak to Him.
